Medical Identity Theft

Before you think that you’re “covered” because your credit cards all carry the fraud alert, think again. That is only one slice of the identity theft pie. Medical identity theft, where somebody gets hold of your insurance information; and has a medical procedure at your expense is another slice of that same pie. Or worse yet, somebody could get an AIDS test in your name, test positive, and you will have a hard time getting insurance or getting a job. Or a fraudulent billing ring could use your insurance card as their meal ticket to bilk your insurance company out of thousands.
Identity theft has now surpassed drug dealing as the most profitable crime to commit today. Why risk getting shot up in a bank, if you can just go out and steal somebody’s identity from the comfort of your own home?
Scary..
