Will Fish Cure Psoriasis

September 17, 2008 by: ToddieM

One need only follow a vinegar-fungus post with a fish-psoriasis one. Evidently, in Japan, all the rage at the health spas is to have hundreds of little fish, called garru-rufa or doctor fish, chew away all the dead skin on your feet.

For about 1500 yen, you can enter in one of these spas, immerse your feet in warm water and have these little fish suck away all your dead skin. Evidently, these little suckers are toothless, so the effect is one of a tingling, or gentle massage.

And I always thought in school when I was taught that TAR is often used to treat psoriasis; that this idea was pretty ridiculous.  It looks darn near sane compared to this fishie fishie one.

I can’t remember where I saw something about these nibbly toes fish recently. I believe it was in a newspaper article. They were interviewing both clients and owners of the place where they did this.

Advice given was that if you want to have this done find a place where you have a separate tank for each client’s fish instead of one big tank for all. Obviously that would help with concerns about sanitation. But also when there is only one communal tank all the fish may tend to swarm to the person with the most dead skin!

The clients seemed to love it though.
