Bunion Splints

One of the unfortunate bits of news I must give my patients when they come in with a bunion is that there is not a lot we can do.

Bunions usually mean surgery, and sometimes debilitating surgery at that.  People would ask me, would wearing a splint help?  In the past, I’d always said no.  Get yourself some wider shoes, wear a pad, or learn to live with it.

Unless you like the blade!

I must say that this new splint I’ve discovered called Bunion Aid, is quite a bit different.  Check out the following:

  1. The splint can go either on your left or right foot.
  2. The included “transversal arch pad supports this arch.
  3. I love the fact that Bunion Aid can also be used after corrective surgery, when the toe is most responsive.
  4. Wearing this splint leads to improved balance and more stable gait.
  5. It is hinged, thus restoring the normal flexing action of the foot.
  6. Due to it’s thin profile, it fits smoothly into roomy shoes.
  7. Aligning the big toe and supporting the transverse arch increases the surface contact of the foot and allows for greater freedom of motion of the toe.  This is critical for good balance.

Remember to ask your podiatrist about Bunion Aid.  If he doesn’t have it, look for Bunion Aid here.
