Heel Pain and Weight
April 22, 2009 by: ToddieMIf you ‘ve ever been to my office, you’ve heard the tale of the relationship between heel pain and additional pounds. It relates to how many steps you take a day, and the ideal weight your heel and foot were designed for.
Figure the average human takes about 10,000 steps a day. If you wear a pedometer-you’d know your average! Assume your ideal weight is 150, and you’re currently about 25 pounds over that. Here is the math.
- 175-150=25 pounds overweight
- 25 pounds x 10,000 steps=250,000 “step-pounds” of unnecessary stress and strain
- 250000 x 2 years (730 days)=182,500,000 “step-pounds”
Clearly, you can see how even two years of this abuse can wreak havoc with your heels. It’s understandable how your body might start to send you signals.
An essential part of any successful heel pain treatment has to begin with weight loss. It is so critical for multiple aspects of your health.
