Chino Hills Podiatrist-What it takes to become one

Patients and friends are often asking me, what does it take to become a podiatrist?   As a practicing podiatrist in the Chino and Chino Hills area for many years, I can’t tell you how many times I have been asked that question. The corollary to that question is always, “why did you want to become a podiatrist”?  I dont know why-but some people just consider working with feet distasteful...

Diabetic Neuropathy Drink

Diabetic neuropathy is a condition whereby patients can no longer sense pain or pressure points in their feet.  They end up with ulcers because they don’t avoid the pain/pressure points as you and I would. What if there were a drink to help with the neuropathy? Evidently, a pharmaceutical company in Texas is experimenting with a drink they say can help diabetics.  Why not heal somebody from...

Strassburg Sock-Night Splint Lite

Plantar fasciitis is a chronic injury that irritates many of my patients.  They have tried many things, and still get that nagging pain with their first couple steps in the morning. Bulky splints that are awkward and uncomfortable in many cases are worn by the patient at night to stretch out the plantar fascia.  Problem is that anything uncomfortable typically leads to poor compliance.  If you don’t...

Flat Feet-A Rather Severe Case

This young lady has a severe flat foot.  Her foot is so severely flat that her heels are everted in stance.  What that means is that her heel cannot get to ninety degrees with respect to the ground.  A normal heel makes a perpendicular relationship to the ground. As you can see from this photo, her heels are pointing out or everted. Flat Feet This type of foot would require special modifications...

Bunions and their causes

Another question I hear quite frequently in my office is “what caused my bunion”? One of the most common misconceptions is that they are caused by shoes.  A picture I still remember to this day is that of a happy African native who never wore shoes with bunions the size of Cleveland. Notice I said a “happy” native.  And that brings up an important secondary point.  While...

Plantar Fasciitis needs those Orthotics

Particularly, as it applies to plantar fasciitis and heelpain, Best Website Review Blog does a great job at explaining why orthotics are so vital when foot pain rears its ugly head. It also shows how common and wide spread the problem of plantar fasciitis really is. I often tell my patients that you would never go to the grocery store, and buy off the rack one of those reading glasses.  In much the...

I may not be in Chino Hills practicing podiatry

Yet, I sure do not practice at this old address. Despite going through Google’s recommended practice of updating your address through Google maps, receiving a postcard and entering my PIN provided to their telephone number; Google still hasn’t updated my address. I find this unfortunate because my patients have suffered inconvenience because of this. Since many of my patients find me...

Oral Anti-Fungals Efficacy againt Fungal Nails

As a Chino Hills foot doctor, you can rest assured I see many thick, yellow, and crumbly nails.  Yes, I’m talking about fungal nails. One question that I’ve heard enough to say “if I had a nickel for everytime….” is definitely, “how do I get rid of these fungal nails”? I have a previous post that talks about vinegar treating fungal nails, and this entry is...

Ankle Bracing and Ankle Gauntlets

One of the conservative methods in my practice that I have had profound success with are the use of ankle bracing.  Ankle pain can be quite debilitating, and patients are looking for answers.  This does for the ankle pretty much for what an orthotic does for your foot. It does involve a bit more compliance, and you might have to buy a shoe a half size bigger to fit this brace.  Isn’t the little...

Will Fish Cure Psoriasis

One need only follow a vinegar-fungus post with a fish-psoriasis one. Evidently, in Japan, all the rage at the health spas is to have hundreds of little fish, called garru-rufa or doctor fish, chew away all the dead skin on your feet. For about 1500 yen, you can enter in one of these spas, immerse your feet in warm water and have these little fish suck away all your dead skin. Evidently, these little...
